After a cracking, sold out single and video launch in Melbourne last weekend, Dancing Heals have announced that they will be playing two more Melbourne shows in June, this time supporting their good friends Jimmy Hawk and Jaime Robbie Reyne at their respective single launches.

Friday, June 10 @ Cherry Bar (opening for Jimmy Hawk)
Saturday, June 18 @ Revolver (main support for Jaime Robbie Reyne)

The latest Dancing Heals single, “Diamonds” is now making inroads on Australian radio and the clip is featured on Nova FM online.
“Diamonds” has also featured on Rage, if you wan’t to see it again, you can request it here.
Beat Magazine’s single reviewer writes, “… the chorus just knocks you off your feet. Everything is drenched in reverb, a wall of sound, but the melody cuts through and absolutely f#@king soars.”

FAKER UNLEASH NEW MUSIC

Posted in Music with tags on May 27, 2011 by speakertv

Faker is very excited to offer up the first taste of their new record; a CSS remix of the track ‘Dangerous’.

The band have been busy giving us a glimpse of the past by releasing old demo’s and recordings in a space called ‘The Back Lot’ via their website www.faker.com.au.

Today marks the first new music to come out of the Faker camp since October 2008.

With the single version of ‘Dangerous’ scheduled for a June 17 release, Nathan and Nic were so excited on hearing the CSS interpretation of the track that they could not wait for fans to hear it. Fans can download the remix for free at www.faker.com.au.

CSS, Brazil’s professional purveyors of fine party, put the balloons and streamers down for four and a half minutes of emotionally charged electro pop. ‘Dangerous’ takes a floor-ready turn among tinkling piano keys and warm, synthetic bass.

The remix came about after a rather fortuitous meeting on the other side of the world. Nathan, who had spent extended periods of time travelling around South America looking for creative inspiration for the new record, had decided he would love to bump into Adriano from CSS in Sao Paulo, Brazil where the band CSS are based. And the next day, in a city of 20 million people, Nathan stumbled across Adriano in a small book shop; they got chatting and, after catching up again in Australia, they got to work on this remix of‘Dangerous’.

To co-incide with the release of the new material, the band has decided to announce their first official Faker shows since December 2009. After deliberating long and hard about where to play first, Nathan and Nic discussed where they had had the most fun on the road. The answer was Tasmania. So the boys will showcase their new Faker line-up with a show at The Waratah Hotel in Hobart on Friday June 24th and at Hotel New York Launceston on Saturday 25th June.

Nathan says of the shows “We’re coming to Tasmania for our first shows in support of our very new record. We’re coming to learn a thing or two about looks and what happens when you play a very new song in front of a particularly excited audience. We want to feel like we put the mania in Tasmania. We’re also coming because we feel like we owe it to you. You don’t get enough love do you? We can fix that. Together.”

DON RIMINI AUSTRALIAN TOUR JUNE / JULY 2011

Posted in Music with tags on May 27, 2011 by speakertv

Rounding off the Fuzzy Touring madness set to ensue this June is none other than French fidget-fiend Don Rimini, or as many deem him ‘The Don.’ You might know him from his recent, all-conquering EP NLarge Your Parties, a brain-smacking adventure that makes you want to say thanks and turn the other bum cheek. Or perhaps you’ve shaken your ba-donka-donk to his remixes of The Count & Sinden, Rye Rye, BeatauCue, The Subs or Young MC. Or maybe you were lucky enough to catch him at Sonar, I Love Techno or Hard Festival. Either way, you know The Don. And you know what he will bring nothing but XXXX-L sized sound, X-rated broadcasts, mutant beats for X-Men and extreme musical cascades to the table.

Is Don, Is Good.

Red Bull Bedroom Jam 2011 returns for Round Two

Posted in Music with tags on May 27, 2011 by speakertv

Entries now open for teen bands to win a recording trip to LA

Red Bull Bedroom Jam is on a mission to discover – via webcam – teenage bands rehearsing in bedrooms across the nation. The second round of the 2011 competition will reward one band with a mind-blowing music prize: a trip to LA to record in Red Bull’s studios.

The four finalist bands from round one of Red Bull Bedroom Jam recently battled it out at a live gig in Alice Springs, alongside headline act British India. Melbourne four-piece rock band Welcome Wednesday took out top honours and will be heading to London to record in Red Bull’s studios, before performing at legendary UK rock festival Download in June.

Any band with members aged 14 – 19 years old itching to follow in Welcome Wednesday’s footsteps can enter the competition now, by uploading a video of them performing an original track to www.redbullbedroomjam.com.au. Bands then need to spread the word to encourage their fans to make some noise on the site’s custom made Buzz Chart.

Every fortnight for eight weeks, the band that tops the Buzz Chart will win the chance to stream a live performance to the world from their bedroom. A professional Red Bull film crew will be dispatched to the finalist’s house for the Live Webcast, hosted by MTV’s Daisy McHarg-McKenzie. From here, the four finalist bands will go on to play an epic wrap gig at a Backyard Jam event alongside a major Aussie band.

The first webcast winner will be announced on Thursday 2nd June and will broadcast live from their bedroom at 5.00pm on Thursday 9th June.  Make sure you check it out at www.redbullbedroomjam.com.au.

Attention all skateboarders, BMX and scooter freaks!!!

Posted in Fashion with tags , , on May 17, 2011 by speakertv

New jeans save flesh and blood!

Attention all skateboarders, BMX and scooter freaks! Cuts, scrapes and grazes could soon be a thing of the past thanks to the new Urban Kreation Clothing jeans. These seriously cool jeans come with some wicked technology that actually protects the skin when those jumps and flips don’t quite go according to plan.

Lined with both Kevlar®* and Vectran®**, Urban Kreation Clothing jeans are ultra strong and safe. Kevlar® is the substance used in bulletproof vests and Vectran® is the fibre used to cushion the space mission on Mars. The lining is reinforced with a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) making a micro fibre more than five times stronger than steel. Now that’s pretty tough stuff.

Any skater, scooter or BMX rider that’s working to perfect a new trick will appreciate this level of protection. It’s one thing to tear your clothing, but when your skin comes off too it gets nasty. These jeans have extraordinary heat, abrasion and impact resistance, which means they eliminate scarring, scratching, tearing and heat burns.

Urban Kreation Clothing jeans give you the confidence to go the extra mile, make that leap and take that jump, knowing they’ve got you covered. A little less fear means a lot more performance.

The Urban Kreation Clothing ‘protection’ is attached to the inside of your jeans so it’s invisible to the rest of the world. Your mates will wonder why you’re suddenly even braver (or crazier!) than you were before.

Don’t worry, Urban Kreation Clothing jeans haven’t sacrificed fashion or comfort for protection. The Kevlar®* weave is extremely soft and comfortable and the protective fabrics and joins are invisible when they’re on. The skinny style cut of these jeans means you’ll look the goods on and off the skate park.

The LCP protection of Urban Kreation Clothing jeans also absorbs moisture such as humidity, sweat and rain, which means your performance under these conditions won’t be compriomised.

At around $200 they’re not cheap, but you’ll get a hell of a lot of peace of mind for your money.

Urban Kreation Clothing jeans are now available in Australia. They come in Stretch Slim Fit in blue and black in sizes 26 – 36. Urban Kreation Clothing jeans will be available from specialty BMX, skate and scooter stores. Go to www.activeoutthere.com.au for further details.
