Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on March 31, 2011 by speakertv

After its launch into Australia last year, Creamfields Australia is back bigger and better for Easter 2011.  The Totem Onelove crew (also behind the Stereosonic festival) are committed to bringing you some of the world’s best acts, utilizing some of the best venues in Australia, amazing production and value for money in ticket pricing.

Totem Onelove (Hardware Corp and Onelove Music Group), are pleased to announce the main headliner for Creamfields 2011: Deadmau5with the full live show (with LED Mau5 head and new production), designed by the people who brought the world Daft Punks’ legendary live show!! Deadmau5 is one of the biggest acts in the world with countless productions, and has been stunning audiences worldwide with this live light & videoshow.  This is the first time he has brought his show, LED Mau5head and concert level production to Australia.

Another year and another smash hit for Frenchman Martin Solveig, all over the radio and TV with ‘Hello’ Martin will be shooting an exclusive video at Creamfields Australia.  Skrillex is one of the hottest producers at the moment, owning 7 out of 10 spots on the Beatport chart in November 2010.  Chuckie is one of the most in demand acts in the world with his Dutch House weapons.  Simon Patterson one of the new school guys of trance has jumped up in the DJ Mag rankings and blown away crowds at major festivals including Trance Energy around the world.  Gabriel & Dresden are one of the most revered acts in the Trance/Progressive world and haven’t toured for many years.  Wynter Gordon has had a massive few months, ‘Dirty Talk’ topping the Aria Charts and will be performing live at Creamfields.  Hi Tek Soul is the new project for Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, the original Detroit Legends together for 3 hours at each show.  After sellout club shows across Australia, DJs, remixers and producers the Bingo Players return for Creamfields after a busy end to 2010 and start of 2011.  Top 3 Psy Trance act Skazi return to Australia with a new album due in March: ‘Time to feed the animals.’  French Wunderkid Surkin is back in Australia with a new live show.  Electronic Duo Dada Life are from Sweden. Check out their latest album ‘Do the Dada.’ Umek is one of the techno massives favourite acts, get set for Umek at all shows.  Nadastrom The collective brainchild of Washington, D.C. natives Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom.  Emerging duo experiencing significant buzz. i.e. The debut release from Nadastrom sold out on vinyl and became a digital store annual bestseller.  One of the buzz acts of 2010 was Round Table Knights, a huge year on dancefloors, charts and touring.  At a time when techno is marketed in the same way as a sci-fi blockbuster, it’s possible for every aspiring DJ to have the same playlist as their idol with just a few mouse clicks, the mysterious Sandwell District label is pushing in the opposite direction, putting some distance between the artist and the audience.  London based Tim Green is one of those producers who doesn’t turn in a lot of filler tracks.  His unique style and flair shine for all to see when the 25 year old puts his music out there.  After a decade in the business Bart Claessen knows a thing or two about trance.  Over the last eight years he’s been responsible for huge club hits, international chart smashes and sub-genre defining releases.  If there is one thing you can’t blame Mumbai Science for it’s a lack of imagination.  At only 24, the duo already have a decade worth of creative experimenting behind them.

The countdown is on Australia! Creamfields will return with larger stages and epic production, with the first Cream event stadium show, ‘Planet Cream’, in Adelaide.  Brisbane will see a new venue this year, the RNA Showgrounds as we move to a larger capacity with a new site configuration for Melbourne.

Posted in Music, Rock'en channel, Sport with tags , , , , , , , , , on March 31, 2011 by speakertv

For the second year running, SYN have joined forces with the Reclink Community Cup to present the SYN Free Kick Competition – an initiative offering an emerging band or artist the chance to perform at this year’s Reclink Community Cup.  Last year’s winners Money for Rope rocked the Community Cup stage and we’re looking for another group of young upstarts to do the same this year!

Reclink Community Cup is not only a brilliant game of footy and community event but also an opportunity to showcase some of Australia’s best live musicians. Over the events long history, Paul Kelly, Magic Dirt, The Cosmic Psychos, The Living End and Mach Pelican have all graced the Community Cup stage among many others.  And after the success of the last year’s SYN Free Kick Competition, the 2011 Reclink Community Cup and SYN are again offering one lucky band or artists the opportunity to open the 2011 event on Saturday June 26th.

It’s easy, any band or artists with members under the age of 30 can enter the SYN Free Kick Competition and all you need to do is download and complete an entry form via: www.communitycup.org.au/freekick

SYN will then select a line up of lucky finalists to battle it out at the final, this year to be held on Sunday May 22nd at The Tote. The winning band will be decided by esteemed judges from SYN, PBS 106.7FM, Triple R 102.7FM and the Espy Rockdogs.

As the theme of the 2011 Reclink Community Cup is ‘Do you love me?’, a tribute to Melbourne’s much loved Nick Cave, the winning band or artist will be required to perform a Nick Cave song as part of their set.

So Melbourne bands or artists don’t miss your opportunity to perform at the 2011 Reclink Community Cup with entries closing Sunday April 24th and the finalists announced on Monday, May 2nd, 2011.

So come join Melbourne community radio stations Triple R 102.7FM and PBS 106.7FM teaming up to form the Megahertz up against the Espy Rockdogs.

Abbe May’s second single – Design Desire

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on March 30, 2011 by speakertv

Perth rocker, Abbe May’s album “Design Desire” is due for release mid-year and is already one of the most anticipated releases amongst genre-bending tastemakers.”

I heard the second single taken from the album ‘Design Desire’ on 2011 with Kingsmill on Sunday night, it immediately caught my attention and I was even more excited to hear that it was an aussie who had created such a rockin song. The video clip, directed by UK based Zena Loxton and filmed in a dried lake near Gin Gin in Western Australia.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on March 29, 2011 by speakertv

PayPal, Moshtix, Illusive and EMI have joined forces to bring the first ever ‘Cashless Concert’ to Australian music lovers. The unique show will take place at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Thursday April 7th and tickets are only available through the Moshtix mobile site (accessed by typing moshtix.com.au into any internet enabled mobile handset) exclusively through PayPal.

The show is the first of Illusive’s ONE TAKE pop-up parties and will be headlined by UK rap sensation and emerging global phenomenon, Tinie Tempah. The two times Brit Award winner is known for his breakthrough album Disc-Overy which features the hit singles Invincible (feat. Kelly Rowland), Written In The Stars, Pass Out and platinum selling Swedish House Mafia collaboration Miami 2 Ibiza.

The inaugural One Take show will also feature Melbourne duo Diafrix, DJ Izm (Bliss N Eso) plus an array of top Sydney DJs promising to be a monumental affair.

The concept of the cashless concert is simple: fans use their mobile devices to access tickets to the show, they pay using their PayPal account, then receive their ticket which they then present to gain entry. Thus, totally cashless and all via a mobile device.

Forging the way in M-commerce, the PayPal Mobile Express Checkout is designed to improve the mobile shopping experience. It allows merchants to benefit from a one-stop payment service enabling them to sell to millions of mobile shoppers. It also offers a seamless customer experience which is vital with smaller screens and keyboards. No cumbersome data entry is involved; in just a few clicks the transaction is done. The PayPal Mobile Express Checkout also offers unprecedented security. All payments are secure, personal financial information is never shared with the recipient and PayPal confirms by e-mail all payment details as soon as money is sent. Moreover, all PayPal payments are protected by their industry leading proprietary fraud models. Each payment is confirmed by a PIN or password, so users need not worry if they lose their phone.

By purchasing tickets through Moshtix’s easy-to-use, optimised site, ticket buyers have the ability to have their Moshtix purchased tickets scanned straight from their mobile when arriving at a venue. Other key mobile site features include:

– The integration of links to activate Google Maps that provides directions on how to get to particular venues.
– Sharing Moshtix events with friends through Facebook and Twitter
– Forwarding tickets to friends straight from the handset

For ease of access after a ticket buyer purchases tickets to an event, they are sent an SMS that links straight to their mobile barcode ticket. After purchasing a ticket through moshtix.com.au on the mobile, a user’s barcoded ticket is stored in their Moshtix account for easy access. When purchasing multiple tickets, users also have the option to send individual tickets to friends.

The Big (Kitty) Bang Theory – Melbourne Comedy Festival

Posted in Art/ off the wall, Funny Shit on the Low, Music with tags , , , , , on March 28, 2011 by speakertv

Kitty Bang burst onto the Melbourne cabaret scene in 2010 with her debut Comedy Festival show, The Rise And Fall Of Kitty Bang. This year, Kate Boston Smith has revised, reworked and renamed her hugely successful Melbourne Fringe Festival show to present The BIG (Kitty) Bang Theory.  An all-singing, all-dancing day in the life of the red-headed diva.

Kitty is joined on stage by talented pianist Peter Lubulwa (The Galvatrons, We:Are:Fans) and will be lending her sultry stylings to an eclectic selection of songs from The Beatles, Queen, Manfred Mann, Belinda Carlisle and Tammy Wynette, The BIG (Kitty) Bang Theory is set to be a stage show of stadium proportions.

The woman behind the wig, Kate Boston Smith, studied Jazz Performance at New York’s Theatre Lab. She has since accumulated an impressive list of credits including four solo shows in 2010: The Rise And Fall Of Kitty Bang, Absolutely Gabulous (a tribute show to her mother Gabrielle), Kitty Bang: Through the Magnifying Glass; and end of year extravaganza, A Very Kitty Christmas.

Boston Smith says, “The revised show will give audiences a glimpse into the colourful and camp workings of Kitty’s kaleidoscopic mind. How she interprets the world around her, her fruity theories on life and how she finds new love where she least expects it”. Get your ticket to ride this train of Kitty enlightenment… your world will not be the same after.
