Bikes 4 Life is launching their exciting and unique program which aims to raise at least 500 bicycles and bicycle kits to send over to the impoverished war torn IDP camps in Northern Uganda and poverty stricken indigenous communities within Australia, with a family fun day on Sunday 28th November hosted by Tottie Goldsmith and AFL Legend Robert Dipier Domenico (Dipper).

Bikes 4 Life is an initiative that was originally developed by Ebony Butler from Atlantic Star Productions following visits to the areas where she witnessed the abysmal conditions that people of these locations were forced to endure.

People living in these isolated areas suffer a combination of violence, extreme poverty, disease, famine and politic instability and find accessibility to the basic human needs of health care, education, food and water largely inaccessible.

The Human Rights and Arts & Film Festival, Speaker TV, Red Bull and Kiss FM, as well as an array of independent organisations are supporting the fundraising endeavour being run by Bikes 4 Life. The main purpose of the initiative is to raise resources to provide people in these disadvantaged areas with a vital source of transportation, to enable them to travel to locations where they can obtain water, food and hospital facilities, a luxury that many of us within Melbourne take for granted.

Miss Butler and her committee are encouraging people all over Victoria to donate their unwanted or unused bikes to the project, which will be officially launched at the family day on the bay side promenade at the front of Riva St Kilda (42b Marine Parade).

Starting at 1pm the day, the gold coin donation event will take on a festive theme with entertainment for young and old, celebrity appearances from AFL identities including Nathan Brown, Dermott Brereton, Marty Pask and Robert DiPier Domenico, as well as a host of local music and television personalities. Other notable guests on the day include world champion cyclist Cadel Evans and members from the Australian Olympic Cycling Team such as Baden Cooke, who will all be available for photographs and signatures.

Live music, a free barbeque with Junior Masterchef Finalist Cassidy, giveaways and a star studded fashion parade will also be highlights of the event, with a free celebrity photo opportunities for all guests and bike donors. Australian Idol winner Natalie Gauci and special guests Dirty Laundry will be performing in support of Bikes 4 Life. Other acts include Squares & Zeros, Rachael Berry, Scarlett Blue, The Lowdown Street Orchestra and Brett Goldsmith who will entertain the audience with 16 year old singing sensation Abbey Stone.
