NEW ORDER, FRIENDLY FIRES, GYM CLASS HEROES, MARK RONSON VS ZANE LOWE, KNIFE PARTY, PROFESSOR GREEN AND LOTS MORE!!

With summer blasting off for another year, the countdown to Australia’s biggest celebration, Future Music Festival 2012, has officially begun.

And, just when you thought this rocket ride could not get any hotter, Future Entertainment is pleased to announce a stunning supernova of fresh new stars will join the party that’s already way outta’ sight.

Here’s a taste of who’s gearing up to rock your body in zero gravity like there’s no tomorrow… 3 … 2 … 1 … brace yourselves …

A lot of acts are described as “needing no introduction” these days, but when it comes to New Order it actually rings true. In the words of Festival Director Brett Robinson:

“New Order are one of the true pioneer’s of electronica, at the forefront of the new wave movement, and Swedish House Mafia is the biggest electronic band of this time – these two bands alone represent the past and present of music that sit at the very heart and soul of the Future Music Festival. New Order is one of the most influential bands of our time and with out festival direction being everything from electronica to indie rock and beyond they are the perfect co-headliner for us and we can wait to see them gracing our stages.”

As one of the most revered and iconic bands of our time, this team of revolutionary electronic musicians and audacious New Wave pioneers have captivated the world’s imagination for over 30 years. Responsible for tracks like Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle and Age of Consent, these legends in their own lifetime need no introduction! Speaking on booking New Order, Brett Robinson noted:“It’s always a difficult task trying to top the year before, and in the case of 2010 and its success, it’s a massive undertaking. The Chemical Brothers have played Future Music Festival twice now and each year we discuss with them how hard it will be to find acts that will top their phenomenal stage show. When Ed Chemical and his manager Alex went to Paris to see New Order’s first show back from their hiatus they called me the instant they left the show to say ‘if you know what’s good for you, book them straight away, the show was every bit as good as it ever has been’. Next day we went and did just that!”

Newly reformed and firing on all cylinders, New Order have garnered rave reviews from recent performances. Brett Robinson added:

“We are booking New Order for New Order – a band that have debuted their re- united band and iconic songs to rave reviews in Europe, and led by front man Bernard Sumner’s distinctive vocals. A band is bigger than any one member and in the case of New Order they represent an entire movement and an iconic moment in music that has become timeless and coveted.”

New Order fans are set to enjoy an unbridled musical epiphany when they hit main stage. Reflecting the excitement sure to be shared by a legion of fans across Australia, Brett Robinson enthused:

“If this in fact their last ever tour of Australia, as a band performing all their biggest hits like Blue Monday and Bizarre Love Triangle, then this is an amazing day for Future Music Festival being selected as the environment in which to do it. We know there will be 200,000+ fans nationally that will be electrified by them on our stage. This booking is a career highlight for us at Future.”

Hailing from the UK, Mercury Prize nominated funksters Friendly Fires are set to WOW crows with their innovative sounds! Hot on the heels of dropping their latest and greatest album, The Papercut Chronicles II, New York’s finest hip hopping rockers, Gym Class Heroes, are set to blow the popsicle stand sky high, whilst free-styling, rap- firing grime master Professor Green will also be on the launch pad come party time.

Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen’s (of Pendulum fame) latest meteoric project, Knife Party, will destroy you with lazers just like their recent single suggests. Returning Future Music Festival favorites Mark Ronson and Zane Lowe are teaming up to unveil their super secret new collaboration, so expect things to get epic. Nuff’ said …

The milky-way’s freshest Trance all-stars, Ireland’s John O’Callaghan, Norway’s Orjan Nilsen, and local favourite TyDi will be on hand to fire seismic supersonic build ups…

Deep Dish legend and Techno demi-god in his own right, Dubfire, German underground legend, Oliver Huntemann, dubstep prodigy Flux Pavilion, multi–genre wizard Kill the Noize and spit-firing US Electro gun Porter Robinson are all packing their bags to go deliciously deep into overdrive.

And last but certainly not least, Australia’s favourite party starters; uber-cool first lady of House, Ruby Rose and DJ/instrumentalist Timmy Trumpet will also be on hand to turn the party dial up to a roar.

With just a few months to go until the mighty Future Music Festival brings the biggest acts in the universe to the sexiest party this side of the sun, it’s time to slip into your sequinned spacesuits, strap on your futuristic party helmets and get ready to rock, writhe and rejoice like you’ve never done before … this is the party you’ve all been waiting for.

New Order (UK)

It’s no exaggeration to say that New Order are up there with The Beatles and The Velvet Underground as one of the most influential acts of all time. Their story is now mythology and familiar to anyone who has seen the movie 24 Hour Party People. Formed from the ashes of tragedy, New Order paid tribute to their previous incarnation, Joy Division, while redefining the musical landscape in the process and creating a sound the world had never heard before. Effortlessly melding rock and pop with electronic dance music, the lads (and one lady) from Manchester went on to become one of the biggest bands of all time, releasing hit after hit that consistently pushed the boundaries and spawned legions of lesser imitators. Signed to the legendary Factory Records, their records rank amongst the finest music the United Kingdom has ever produced, and there’s barely a DJ or producer in the world who hasn’t been inspired by their inimitable sound. From Blue Monday (still the biggest- selling 12 inch single of all time) to Age of Consent, Bizarre Love Triangle and many, many more, their genuinely seminal songs and albums have set the benchmark that the rest aspire to. Having played together for over 30 years, their live shows are something else. Crowd-pleasers without par, New Order are the originals, and still the greatest.

Friendly Fires (UK)

Purveyors of dance floor friendly post-punk, UK act Friendly Fires are more than mere 80s revivalists, taking in influences as diverse as Carl Craig and Prince to create something genuinely fresh and innovative. Their self-titled debut album (released on XL Recordings, the home of acts such as The xx, Radiohead, The Prodigy and Adele) was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize and spawned a number of tunes that were big in both the charts and the clubs (the single Paris placed at number 47 in NME’s list of the 150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years). In 2010 the band were

nominated for two Brit Awards (Best British Group and British Breakthrough Act), and their recently released album Pala went top 20 in Australia and top 10 in the UK. http://www.facebook.com/FriendlyFires <http://www.facebook.com/FriendlyFires> http://www.wearefriendlyfires.com/ <http://www.wearefriendlyfires.com/>

Gym Class Heroes (USA)

Fresh from upstate New York, the multi-genre Gym Class Heroes demonstrate a musical dexterity that sees them defy easy categorisation. The quartet’s sound is rooted in traditional hip hop except with live instruments in lieu of looped samples or beats, and a range of rock, R&B and funk influences. With a mission to redefine the parameters of rap, the band are as comfortable playing to a throng of moshing punk kids as they are playing to hoards of head-nodding hip hop fans. Formed in 2001, it was their second album The Papercut Chronicles (released on the Fueled by Ramen label – home to acts like Panic! At the Disco, Paramore and Cobra Starship) that heralded their big break, and they went on to join the SXSW and Warped Tour festivals, honing their live sound. Their success continued with their third album As Cruel as School Children, which spawned the Australian hit singles Cupid’s Chokehold and Clothes Off!, and subsequent releases saw them collaborate with Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, The-Dream and Estelle. However it was in 2011 that the act really blew up. The single Stereo Hearts (featuring Maroon 5’s Adam Levine) went top 5 in the US, UK and Australia and has cemented their position as radio, TV and festival favourites. www.gymclassheroes.com/ <http://www.gymclassheroes.com/> http://www.facebook.com/gymclassheroes <http://www.facebook.com/gymclassheroes>

Mark Ronson Vs Zane Lowe (UK)

Mark Ronson probably needs no introduction, but here goes anyway: he produced Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black album, helped propel Lilly Allen and Adele to stardom, took over the charts (with a little help from his famous friends) with his acclaimed album Version and has proven himself to be one of the most prodigious and prolific producers in the world today. In the legendary world of UK radio, there are few bigger stars on the airwaves than Zane Lowe. Presenting his own self-titled show on BBC Radio 1 four nights a week, Zane is a certified tastemaker whose reputation for breaking hot new acts, the next big single and stars of the future is second to none, think household names like Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Kasabian and Kaiser Chiefs. A DJ in his own right, Zane’s mash-up, genre-defying sound has seen him play support roles for the likes of Muse, Foo Fighters and The Prodigy at sold- out stadium gigs, and feature at club nights and special events all over the UK. When these two heavyweights team up, expect things to get epic!

Knife Party (AUS/UK)

The side project of Pendulum members Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, Knife Party dispenses with the drum’n’bass that the Perth boys are known for, concentrating instead on music with more electro, house and dubstep influences. That being said, pigeonhole them at your peril – anything goes with this lot. Thus far they’ve remixed Swedish House Mafia’s Save The World, Nero’s Crush On You and Porter Robinson’s Unison, played their first ever gig at Space, Ibiza, and are set to release their much- anticipated debut EP 100% No Modern Talking in December 2011. http://www.knifeparty.com/ <http://www.knifeparty.com/> http://twitter.com/#!/knifepartyinc <http://twitter.com/#!/knifepartyinc>

Professor Green (UK)

Professor Green’s two albums to date reached number two and three respectively in the UK charts, and his most recent single Read All About It (feat. Emeli Sandé) was a smash hit in the UK, hitting number one. Breaking out of London’s underground Hip Hop scene back in 2006 at the tender age of 23, Professor Green (aka Stephen Paul

Manderson) is a prodigious rapper whose got more than just the skills to pay the bills. In just five short years he’s won the inaugural JumpOff Myspace battle rap tournament, toured with megastars like Lily Allen and The Game, and dropped a debut LP (Alive Till I’m Dead, 2010) on mega-label Virgin Records that captivated Hip Hop fans around the globe. With singles like I Need You Tonight (based on INXS’ classic) and Just Be Good To Green still doing the business in charts worldwide, follow up album. ‘At your inconvenience’ is set to be another success for UK’s most inventive rapper.

Dubfire(USA)

As one of the world’s leading doyens of twisted, dark House and Techno, Dubfire (Ali Shirazinia), is a prodigious DJ and Producer who sits at the very forefront of the international EDM underground. The mastermind behind the cutting edge SCI + TEC digital label and the genius responsible for tunes like ‘Roadkill’, ‘Ribcage’, ‘Emissions’ and ‘Rabid’; Dubfire travels the globe delivering twisted sets of distinction and caving heads with his trademark “jet-black, polished-chrome Techno” sounds. As one half of the all-conquering Grammy Award-wining Deep Dish duo, he helped pioneer the Progressive House and Deep House genres in 1990s; now, in 2009, he’s helping to forge a whole new realm of Techno and amassing a legion of brand new fans in the process

Soon after, John produced the trance classic Big Sky, which was voted the No.1 trance tune of 2007 on Armin van Buuren’s ASOT show. Find Yourself, taken from the Never Fade Away album, has had massive global success, notably reaching a monumental 2 million Youtube views to date. John also has his own radio show and record label (both called Subculture) and is a highly in-demand remixer. http://www.johnocallaghan.net/

Oliver Huntemann (GER)

A pioneer of the German techno scene who went on to become a worldwide dance music superstar, Oliver Huntemann has remixed Depeche Mode, The Chemical Brothers and Underworld, collaborated with Dubfire, released a stream of excellent original releases, and played in every nightclub that matters, from Paris to Sao Paulo. He’s soon to release his fourth album Paranoia on his own Ideal Audio label, and the considerable buzz around it suggests that he’s set to reaffirm his status at the forefront of electronic music. His music really is something else – minimalism with just enough dirt to keep the beats interesting and the crowds dancing. http://www.huntemann.tv/

Flux Pavilion (UK)

Dubstep was perhaps the defining genre of 2011, and Joshua Steele aka Flux Pavilion is one of its most innovative exponents. He blends hard, smashing rhythms and manic basslines with his own singing and instrumental talent, gaining him a loyal audience in the UK and abroad with his unique take on the dubstep sound. All the big names (including Rusko, Caspa and Plastician) have blasted his tunes all over the world, and his performances on Rinse and Kiss FM have solidified his reputation. He’s even had his track I Can’t Stop sampled on Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch the Throne album – definitely one to watch in 2012 and beyond.

Orjan Nilsen (NOR)

Norwegian trance and progressive DJ Ørjan Nilsen is known for his ability to get the crowd fired up, playing a variation of the more chunky and groovy trance music, with big influences from tech-house and techno. His continuous hard work and a flair for production has given us tracks like La Guitarra, So Long Radio, Go Fast, Lovers Lane and many many more.

For the summer of 2011 – a new album is in the works, the hype around Ørjan has been at an all- time high with industry heavyweights like Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, & Markus Schulz hammering tracks like Go Fast!, Mjuzik and the forthcoming Between The Rays was featured on the prominent A State Of Trance 2011 www.orjannilsen.com <http://www.orjannilsen.com>

Porter Robinson (USA)

Porter Robinson is 19-year old wunderkind producer from North Carolina who has already remixed Lady Gaga and graced stages internationally alongside the biggest names in music, such as Tiesto, Deadmau5, Afrojack, Moby and A-Trak. With a skillfulness belying his age, Porter has rapidly ascended the ranks of the international electronic music scene, captivating audiences with his ability to skillfully blend genres into his own unique sound that’s complex yet catchy, and classic yet cutting edge. He counts Skrillex as one of his biggest fans and was recruited to join his label, which released his debut EP Spitfire in September 2011. The EP amply demonstrates his masterful eclecticism, spanning across moods of electro house, dubstep, moombahton and even trance, and including remixes from Knife Party, Kill The Noise and others. www.myspace.com/porterrobinson/music <http://www.myspace.com/porterrobinson/music> http://www.facebook.com/porterrobinsonmusic <http://www.facebook.com/porterrobinsonmusic>

Californian Jake Stanczak, better known as Kill The Noise, exploded into the electro house scene when he launched the project in January of ’08, and his subsequent productions have earned him recognition from both house music fanatics, world- class DJs and dubstep enthusiasts alike. He has a record label partnership with the legendary DJ Craze and his busy worldwide touring schedule most recently saw him perform on Tiesto’s Kaleidoscope World Tour in North America. There’s currently a debut album in the works, but in the meantime Australian fans can make do with witnessing him push the boundaries of dance music live and in person. http://www.myspace.com/killnoisekill <http://www.myspace.com/killnoisekill> www.killnoisekill.com <http://www.killnoisekill.com/>

TyDi (AUS)

Since bursting onto the scene just a few short years ago, Australian Trance prodigy, TyDi (aka Tyson Illingworth), has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame. A rare musical talent who’s classically trained, the young Queenslander’s storming Trance tunes are today signed to some of the biggest labels in the world (including the likes of Armada Music, Trancetribe and AVA Recordings) and spun regularly by luminaries the ilk of Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz and Paul Van Dyk. The mastermind behind epic tracks like “Is It Cold?”, “Meet Me In Kyoto”, “Under The Stars” and “Calling”, this humble Aussie EDM icon has seemingly done the lot: from collaborating with the new first lady of Trance, vocalist Audrey Gallagher, and playing to tens of thousands of screaming fans at Holland’s Trance Energy mega-party, to releasing his own full length artist album “Look Closer” and reaching the coveted #1 ranking in Australia’s inthemix Top 50 DJ Poll. Catch TyDi while you can, because he’s fast becoming a household name in Trance, worldwide. www.tydi.com <http://www.tydi.com> www.myspace.com/djtydi <http://www.myspace.com/djtydi>

Ruby Rose (AUS)

Ruby Rose Langenheim landed her first gig in the public eye in 2007 as a VJ for MTV; a role which not only graced her with an ASTRA award for ‘favourite female’ but also the backing of an entire generation of young adults desperate for a role model that didn’t fit the mold, and definitely didn’t want to. She then appeared as a panelist on the Network Ten’s 7pm Project, Guest Judge and Co-host of the Australias Next Top Model Finale, before being given her own shows Ultimate School Musical and MTV STYLE. The fashion icon also turned fashion designer with a clothing line Milk&Honey and a soon to be released collaboration collection with street footwear brand Gallaz.

So we all know that Pyramid Rock 2011 boasts one of the best line-up of acts this summer festival

season. But just how good are they?

Well why don’t we ask GRANDMASTER FLASH, whose seminal hit ‘The Message’ (penned with his

band The Furious Five) was last week announced to be inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame

in 2012. The induction is the latest in a long line of firsts for the iconic New York rapper and his

breakthrough 1982 single. In 2007 GRANDMASTER FLASH & The Furious Five were the first ever

hip hop act inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame, while ‘The Message’ will become the first

rap song inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame. The achievement is truly remarkable, as the song

that introduced much of the world to hip hop some 30 years ago continues to break ground in 2012.

Or how about all the amazing 2011 ARIA Award-winning artists on this year’s festival bill? Adding to

his 2007 ARIA for Best Male Artist, Mornington local GOTYE took home a whopping six more pointy

statues at Sunday night’s ceremony for his surprise #1 hit single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.

Among his plaudits included awards for Best Single, Best Pop Release and Best Male Artist. Folk

rockers BOY & BEAR signalled they’ll be a force to reckoned with for many years to come, opening

their ARIA account with five wins, including Best Group and the coveted Best Album award for their

debut Moonfire. THE LIVING END continued their dominance of the Australian rock scene with awards

for Best Rock Album and Most Popular Live Act, while Perth MC DRAPHT took home the gong for Best

Urban Album.

And topping the creamy cake with lots of delicious icing is the trifecta of winners at triple j’s J Awards

this afternoon. GOTYE took out the Album of the Year for his third record Making Mirrors, beating fellow

Pyramid acts BALL PARK MUSIC and DRAPHT, among others. He wasn’t so lucky in the Australian Music

Video of the Year category, but HERMITUDE were, snaring the award for their ‘Speak Of The Devil’ video.

And finally BALL PARK MUSIC were pronounced the Unearthed Artist Of The Year, edging out SAN CISCO

to claim the up-and-comer’s prize. Three J Awards out of three ain’t bad!

J Award winners, ARIA Award winners and Grammy Hall Of Famers – the cream sure does rise to the

top at Pyramid Rock 2011.

Ever since they penned the lyrics and melody to the hugely successful “When Love Takes Over”, produced by David Guetta and featuring Kelly Rowland, NERVO have continued to rise and rise in the dance scene, in both the clubs, festival circuit and in the charts. The amazingly successful writing partnership of Melbourne born twin-sisters, Mim and Liv Nervo, has won them a Grammy and placed them at the top of the a-list for artists to work with.

With only a few years in the international spotlight, their résumé already reads like a who’s who of the pop and dance scene. They wrote the first single from Kylie Minogue’s latest album Aphrodite, have written songs for Ke$ha, J-Lo, Britney, David Guetta, Cheryl Cole and Armin Van Buuren and opening shows for Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears on their arena tours… the list is dizzyingly impressive for a duo that were two years ago unheard of, unless of course you religiously trawled the clubs of Ibiza every weekend.

As well as producing, writing and the occasional modeling, the girls are also singers in their own right, and hope to release their debut EP in between a hectic tour schedule in the first half of next year. Liv took some time out with us to talk about writing Armin Van Buuren’s latest single “Not Giving Up On Love”, the makings of a good dance song, the dynamics of working with your twin sister and how they nearly gave it all up.

There latest hit “We’re All No One” sees them singing and features two of the biggest names in dance music at the moment – Afrojack and Steve Aoki.

Behind the lens she’s been the face of a campaign for Maybelline New York and appeared on the cover of Vogue Australia, New York’s INKED Magazine, and every major fashion and social read in between. Outside of television and fashion, Ruby’s talents extend to DJing, where she plays at the hottest clubs, parties and festivals around the world. She’s taken her signature mixes to renowned LA club XIV, put it on wax with a compilation album with Grant Smillie that debuted at number ten on the ARIA charts.

Fresh-faced surf rats (and of more recent times, globe trotters) Bleeding Knees Club will be returning to Australia for the summer (and the waves) after a triumphant trip to the US (which included shows with Gotye, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Male Bonding etc) and the release of their debut EP ‘Virginity’ in the US and UK.

Having hit the scene late last year with the release of their debut EP ‘Virginity’ (through I OH YOU) the Queensland friends quickly won the hearts of many with their catchy and distinctly recognisable single ‘Bad Guys’. With the support of high rotation on national radio stations like Triple J, FBi and 4ZZZ, Bleeding Knees Club hit the road with acts like Wavves, Lightspeed Champion (more on him a little later) and also won the right to play the Big Day Out on the Gold Coast.

With murmurs of the friends scratchy pop songs resonating across the globe, Bleeding Knees Club decided to pack up their garage on the Goldie and head overseas where they were quickly embraced by media and show goers everywhere. NME Magazine placed them at #21 in their ‘top 50 best new bands of 2011’, The Guardian blogged them and Dazed & Confused featured them. As tracks floated through the offices of selected record labels it didn’t take long for the boys to be snapped up by Columbia in the UK and IAMSOUND in the US who have just released the EP in their separate territories to killer reviews and love from publications like Rolling Stone, NME and more.

That brings us to the newest chapter of the Bleeding Knees Club story. After touring Australia with Dev Hynes (AKA Lightspeed Champion) early on in their career, Bleeding Knees Club decided to drop him an email to see if he might be interested in producing their debut album. Somewhat to their surprise Dev jumped at the opportunity and the Gold Coast bro’s jumped a plane and headed to NYC to record their record. What they emerged with was 12 songs and a 25 minute surf/pop record which they called ‘Nothing To Do’ and is set for release in March 2012.

In September 2011, Bleeding Knees Club released the first single to be taken from their debut album – a track called ‘Teenage Girls’. Once againGold Coast dudes hit home with critics and fans alike. Triple J premiered the song to the world and Rolling Stone (USA) hosted the video clip for the very first time which was quickly added to Channel [V] playlist and given MTV Australia’s ‘Just Hatched’ feature.

Off the back of Teenage Girls Bleeding Knees Club travelled to the USA for the CMJ conference and absolutely tore it up while sharing the stage with acts like Gotye, Little Red, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Male Bonding.

On the eve of the band returning to Australia from their latest successful international adventures we’re now pleased to announce that Bleeding Knees Club will be playing a string of headline club dates and making appearances at some of Australia’s premiere east coast summer festivals.

Chet Faker’s debut live show with a full band.

The mysterious Chet Faker shot to fame when his cover of ‘No Diggity’ went viral, reaching Number 1 on the worldwide indie music aggregator, Hype Machine.

His fame grew rapidly and he was soon invited to perform on the UK’s heralded Black Cab Sessions and his latest single, Jeans and Wallet, was added to full rotation on Australian radio station JJJ.

Hailing from Melbourne’s deep disco scene and taking elements of his acoustic past, Chet Faker has created his own style that fuses personal stories of love and loss with an electronica soul.

Chet Faker will play his first live performance at the Toff in Town in Melbourne, Sat November 26 with a full band. He is supported by Rat & Co, and Jesse I.

Melbourne’s Aleks and the Ramps are set to release a new digital single; Middle Aged Unicorn on Beach with Sunset onOctober 27th through Gaga Digital. Middle Aged Unicorn on Beach with Sunset is the first taste of Aleks and the Ramps’ forthcoming album due for release early next year.

With references to Shakespeare, Satan, wonky dance floor moves, parental aliens and holiday ennui, Middle Aged Unicorn on Beach with Sunet is the latest weird pop gem to be bestowed upon us from Ramps HQ.

In addition to the release of Middle Aged Unicorn… and its totally rad film clip, Aleks and the Ramps are proud to announce the re-release of their first two (currently unavailable) albums; Pisces vs Aquarius (2007) and Midnight Believer (2009).

All three releases will be available in digital format on October 27th through iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc.

From basketball uniforms to teensy kitten shirts to sparkly after-dinner wear, Aleks and the Ramps have become known for a colourful and mildly leotarded stage show. Early years of equipment smashing chaos and interpretive dance moves have slowly given way to a more elegant stage show of fancy DIY lighting and an ecstatic pop sound like nothing else.

Shit still gets pretty unhinged though.
